Alexander Mcqueen- Kimono Jacket and John Galliano- Pirate Jacket
I love a good fashion exhibition so I’m super excited for September when I must make a visit down to London to Somerset house where they will be exhibiting, ‘SHOWstudio:Fashion Revolution’ from the 17th Sept-20th December.
SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution opens the door to the previously closed world of high fashion, allowing instant and unparalleled access to catwalk shows, fashion shoots, and groundbreaking collaborations with some of the fashion world’s most influential and visionary figures.
Check out the Youtube trailer video for the exhibition.
Nick Knight’s award winning fashion website, SHOWstudio has, “championed Fashion Film as a wholly new form of experiencing fashion in the digital age” and has collaborated with photographers, artists, writers and designers and stylists, the exhibition is a retrospective of SHOWstudio’s projects which are based on three themes of ‘Process’, ‘Performance’ and ‘Participation’.
What’s more is that there is an opportunity to be part of the exhibition and have your work exhibited too. Pretty amazing when you think about it. The competition that they are running is to create your own interpretation of a pattern courtesy of seven designers, Galliano, Margiela, Yoji Yamamoto, Anthony Price, Junya Watanabe, Alexander Mcqueen and Gareth Pugh.

The exhibition kicks off around London Fashion week which couldn’t be better timing seeing as Somerset house is one of the new locations of LFW, set to take place from 18th-23rd Sept. Closing date is the 31st August and the 10 best entries will be exhibited as well as the runner ups will have their works online. So if any of you are budding fashion designers, get involved! For more info and patterns go to this page on the Somerset house website.
There are so many things happening around September time. I’m really looking forward to seeing ‘The September Issue’ when it hits UK cinemas on Sept 11th too. Yay!
