ViVi is dated two months ahead so this issue is kinda old now but I think they're fun to dip into whenever you need a bit of inspiration. That's what I tell my mom when she eyes up my growing stack of ViVi magazines in my room (I fear one day they'll all end up in a recycling bin when I am unawares!). It used to be Vogue, ID and Dazed that I hoarded, but those are all in storage now and a colourful stack of Japanese magazines now take their place. Anyway, I couldn't hold back with scanning just a few of my favourite pages so er...here are a mighty 17 for you! Enjoy!
Phew! Hope they were all worth the wait, these ViVi posts are getting longer and longer!

I love Japanese style it's so fun and carefree. I desperately want to travel in Japan too but it's so expensive!!! Regarding the Full Moon Party comment you left me, the FMP is fun (party on the beach and all that) but the town it's in (Haad Rin) is a constant mass of drunk, naked travellers being sick everywhere, having moped accidents and being rowdy so you can understand why the Thais don't agree with it. Apparently it started many years ago by due to a birthday celebration on the beach (at full moon) and was so amazing it carried on every month. Now its become a massive monthly trance festival of sorts that is publicised all over Asia and not really the special and secluded event it used to be. Anyway, i's a bit of fun, if not dangerous and because of all the tourism it brings to the island there's plenty of money to be made by the locals. I know that isn't necessarily a good thing but that seems to be the trend all over SE Asia these days so there's not a whole lot anyone can do about it =( still a fun party though!

Great picks, I guess you really do get value for money what with all the images inside and different outfit combinations. Love the outfit with the denim shorts and bowler hat plus the Peter Pan collared dresses. V.jealous of your Japanese magazine collection and don't worry about all the pages as 17 is my favourite number!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it <3
Wow, what a beautiful magazine! I love looking at foreign magazines for inspiration - the pictures always seem so much better - but maybe not being able to read the words adds to the mystique!
ReplyDeleteOn another note - why do magazines date themselves so far ahead? I can sort of understand one month, but two?! It's so bizarre reading magazines dated March around now! I can only assume it's to give us time to rush out and buy everything now so we can be on trend by the time March does actually come around!
I always get so inspired by these, so thank you for posting! I think Japanese fashion has what other fashion is lacking: fun. I love the pop of color these outfits have all the time. This is fun fashion at its finest, and I love it.
ReplyDeleteYAY! The rich girl outfit is my fave. Sooo cute!

ReplyDeleteThank you for those scans!!! It looks amazing! There's endless inspirations you can get from the mags and really; Japanese magazines are so different from the likes for Vogues, MC etc; not that they are no good; but sometimes, there's only so much sullen models and expensive clothes you can take!
